Firefighter and paramedic Tierney Ashton has always been a bold adventurer, but at thirty-four she longs to embark on a new adventure—motherhood. But who will be the father? Although financially challenging, a sperm bank appears to be her best option. That is, until she shares her dream with her long-time pal, Brendan Flaherty.
Government analyst and world traveler Brendan Flaherty returns home to River’s Edge to help out at his family’s thriving winery and his brother’s new community theater. He also plans to finally achieve his lifelong goal of writing a novel. But when Tierney shares her wish, Bren offers to be her baby daddy—with one condition. Marriage.
It seems like a perfect contract, but will love get in the way?
Tierney has known Brenden for
what seems like forever. He was her big brother’s best friend. When Mike died
in Afghanistan. Bren Kept his word. He has been there to watch over his kid
sister.
They cried together, held each other up while they mended. Yet, they also
remembered all the good times. Or as Tee calls them the boys nerdy years. They
were boy computer and science geeks. But she had the best time following them
around. All their memories are tied together in one way or another.
They were always exploring the Ohio River caves and Tee was always hot on their
heels. Bren put all his brains to good use. He became a Ph.D. in electrical
engineering and Nuclear physics the government analyst for the state
department. Where Mike used is serving his country.
Tee on the other hand wanted to carry on where her brother couldn’t and became
a firefighter. Her parents were not happy but, Bren backed her and was proud of
her for doing what she needed to do.
The same with flying lessons and buying and fixing a vintage crop-duster. Her
parents hated the idea. Bren backed her, he even invested in her business when
she wanted to take over the local crop dusters business.
So, telling him about IVF her wanting to take part in it made sense. She
thought for sure he would be happy for her. Heck, she is thirty-four and no guy
in sight. But not the reaction she got out of him for sure. In fact, the polar
opposite of what she was thinking. This really hurts her feelings and angers
her.
I really enjoyed this story. When you are at the point of wanting children and
the clock is ticking. You’re looking at so many factors that when others start
weighing in on your life with their own insecurities and ill feelings you feel
put upon and it scares you more, that your chance of ever being a mother will
ever become a reality.
They’re not the tone that may not be childless or wait with the chance that you
may bring a child into the world with challenges in their lives that they can’t
live with. Tee is getting it from all sides. She can’t seem to win.
I thought emotions felt real. I give this: 5 stars. Found free on Amazon. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com.
