"This was a mistake."
With four little words, he sunk my entire world. Jordan should have been my first… he was already my everything. My best friend, my secret crush.
We were closer than siblings. Our family's weaved together an intricate pattern of lines never meant to be crossed.
Until that night…
We had a bit too much to drink and the heated way he stared at me made me feel that we could finally be something more. Things got a little out of hand and once the kissing started I didn't want it to stop. The time felt right and I gathered courage and told him how I felt.
If only I knew how awkward things would be the next morning.
MY REVIEW:
What amazing storytelling
abilities Ava has in order to take this couple who have been friends their
whole life, their stories of organic love, that grew for each other’s
hearts without cheapening it or them.
Neither Xia (Zee) or
Jordan knew that they were in love with each other. Although they were the only
ones, others knew they were that close. To the point, Jordan was always
touching her in some way. He was even in the opening scene in a booth sitting
on the same side with his arm around her.
Mixed signals much? How did they never explore it or talk about
it? That was the fear, of losing this from diapers to the present friendship
they have. But when they ducked into a
new little off the beaten path restaurant, they never expected to see her
father.
Being that here dad was
supposed to be in Tulsa for a conference since he is a professor for the
college she and Jordan go to, you know where their minds go. She hates it but
decides not to make a scene she calls him it goes to voicemail. In her almost
twenty-one years, he has never, ever not answered her calls not during a class,
meeting, etc….
For them, both to sit
there to see that happen kills them both. Jordan looked up to her dad. They
leave, they get in the car and her dad texts to the effect of,
Dad: At the airport.
Sorry, getting ready to board. Love you!
The man she loves and
looks up to and she watching now, sitting in the window, in front of her, just
broke her heart and will shatter her mom. Out and out lied.
To say from that moment on
the book is beyond fast and do they get closer, yup. After a few days of not
answering calls, dad comes calling, wow so not good for him. Jordan has stuff
so she doesn’t let on but when his big things stop and he talks to her, he goes
to get to bring to his house with his roommates. She doesn’t need to be alone.
After a fun bender one
thing leads to another. The morning after they get their wires crossed.
Avoiding each other isn’t working time to talk so they can get back on track?
Let me tell Jordan is so
meek and mild always gentle but you threaten the well-being of his girl, damn
back up. Or you home in on his woman and the alpha comes out. I give this: 5++++
stars. Provided by netgalley.com. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com.
