As far as first impressions go, nearly dropping a tree onto a federal agent is admittedly not the greatest one I’ve ever made. As an opening gambit in pursuit of a feisty, deliciously curvy woman, it’s decidedly the worst.
Doesn’t help matters that Miss Independence insists she doesn’t have time to get sidetracked with a personal life. Which she stubbornly maintains even while looking at me like she’s the lumberjack and I’m the tree she wants to climb.
Good thing she’s on a mission to catch the bad guys—her one shot at greatness, she believes—and needs my help to do it. A ride is all she says she wants. And trust me, I’m damn sure it’s more than she’s ever asked any man for before.
So, of course, I’m going to give her a ride.
…But I’m not promising to behave.
The HIS TO CLAIM Series
Book 1: Every Last Doubt (Adler & Sage)
Book 2: Every Last Touch (Walker & Ashley)
Book 3: Every Last Look (Barrett & Quinn)
Book 4: Every Last Secret (Sutton & Maddy)
Book 5: Every Last Reason (Emerson & Delia)
Previously published as Walker Pierce (c) 2017, completely rewritten in first person POV and revised throughout with a bit more steam (note that this hero makes a point not to rush the heroine—making his gruff patience its own brand of sexy—so the book does start a little tamer than my usual stuff, but it picks up, as it is a Christa Wick book, after all, *grin*, along with newly added content, and a different extended ending.
MY REVIEW:
I want me a Walker too.
That’s what you will be saying once you read this story and all his family too.
For a woman like Ashley, love is not a word familiar to her. Raised as an
oops-a-daisy baby to two professionals who have no time for each other, so
intellectually shouldn’t the child be able to raise themselves? Or so they
think.
So, from birth that is
what they geared her for. So, she was fully self-sufficient, capable, and able
to master far more and beyond most five-year-olds. In all areas except social
skills. Along with her weight which is even an issue, now. Her employer is
ruthless about it and badgers her.
But not Walker, the first
tree that almost takes his federal agent out for good at their first meeting,
finds his love at first sight. For Ashley, she is totally smitten but has
learned to never get her hopes up or show emotion because model perfect,
six-pack abs men, never look twice at her. Yet, near-death by a tree on his
watch Walker did see her.
Though even with her smart
quips and standoffish ways he didn’t stop his pursuit. He saw she needed
protection even if she did not see it. As with her old leg injury from having
to go around the disaster of the tree. He wanted to be there for her, to be her
crutch. The chemistry and banter between these two make this a fun fast read.
There is action and mystery yet it is humorous.
What endears me the most
is the large family and extended family that Walker has, and that he is all
about making Ash a part of it. This is a series I would continue reading.
