Longing to forget the pain of his wife’s death, Brock Shaw has immersed himself in the one thing that lets him escape the guilt. Bull riding. But life on the road means leaving his young son at home with his parents. They want him to give up his career and be a father to his child, but Brock needs the adrenaline to get through each day…or so he thinks.
Lincoln Pratt needs a fresh start. As a top interior designer in Atlanta, she has everything she could ever want, but she’s always at her father’s mercy. Something’s missing, and Lincoln knows she’ll only find it somewhere far away—like the rolling pastures of Hamilton, Montana, where she meets the irresistibly mysterious Brock.
In Brock Shaw, Lincoln sees the part of her that’s missing. In Lincoln Pratt, Brock sees the part of himself he thought he’d lost. But the pain of his past binds him. Can he let himself love again?
MY REVIEW:
The flames these two made on their first
meet-cute, as they say, is oh so good.
Lincoln had just bought the ranch that used to be owned by Brock and his
former wife, Kaci. She had never met him
during the sale because he is a famous bull rider in the PBR and is on tour.
His brother TY and parents handle the
sale. It was a week later, and Ty brings
Brock’s son with him, Blayze with him to deliver the pie his mother made for
her. To welcome her as a neighbor. Brock gets home early and finds out Blayze is
at the old ranch, so he heads over there.
When he sees him in the barn, he heads
in. He catches sight of the most
beautiful woman he’s ever seen with the greenest eyes ever also. If that wasn’t enough to piss him off lusting
after a woman after what a mess, he made of his first marriage. Him overhearing her asking Blayze, “I bet you
really miss your mom, huh?”
When he barks at her for pumping him for
personal information it startles her so back, she falls on her rear. When she gets up, she comes up fighting. Not to mention she orders him off her
land. When his brother comes out to
check on the loud voices, he is not happy to see and hear Brock has pissed off
Lincoln.
He made sure to tell him, wait till mama
finds out. She’s already upset with your
not getting off the tour to raise your son.
Brock is obsessed with the rush he gets from riding bulls that he can’t
stop because then he would have to face his past. Not to mention he would have to live a new
normal.
See how this guilt-ridden single father
finds love even though he doesn’t think he deserves it. I wish we got a better hint as to what
happens to Ty, Dirk, and Kaylee. Hopefully, we will get a book two.
