He doesn't do commitment. She's his dead friend's wife. They can never be more than friends.
Piper Stevens had already met—and lost—the love of her life. When she buried her husband, she buried her chance for a happily ever after…but also found a shoulder to lean on in Nate.
As a commitment-phobe womanizer, Nate Hall has never had a female as a friend, but he made a promise to his buddy before he passed. Take care of Piper.
And these days? He can’t imagine his life without her.
Now, a year later, things Piper thought were long gone are beginning to come back.
Like her previously healthy libido.
Except she can't picture dating someone in her husband's place, nor can she sleep with a stranger either.
So, she turns to Nate. After all, he's a perfect choice. He's her friend but also a player. He cares about her but they'll never fall in love…and she won’t get hurt. Not like she did when she lost her husband.
But sometimes the universe has other plans. Like bringing together two people who were meant to be together.
Meant to Be was previously published under the title Nasty (Naughty #2).
MY REVIEW:
I really enjoyed this book
and the style of writing this author writes in.
She pulls you in right away with the characters and the way they
interact with one another.
I love the in your face openness of the
childishness of the guys in the way they still act like they are kids back in
the day when they were growing up. The
way they were open both the sexes about sex.
About enjoying it, missing, teasing about getting caught, and warning
about hurting someone who is not a person made to be a one and done kind of
girl.
The way the author took Piper’s growth as
she walked through the aftermath of losing her beloved husband at such a young
age. Yet, she talks about her setbacks
too. Like the guilt of wanting to have
sex which would mean being with a man who is not her husband. She is twenty-nine and not dead, so does she
stop living or move on?
Then, there’s Nate. Her husband’s best friend. Whose is drop-dead gorgeous. Yes, she did notice that before her husband
died, she would have to be blind in both eyes not to. He had promised Jason while they both waited
for EMS to arrive that he would take care of Piper. Of all people the commitment-phobe, really?!
Yet, Nate is there all the time in fact,
Piper is the first and only female friend he has ever had and will ever
have. He’s cried with her, laughed with
her, and argued with her. He just hasn’t
slept with her. Let’s see what Piper has
planned.
