Hotel executive Wendy Marsh puts her career on hold when she inherits half of her family’s inn. Her to-do list? It’s simple: teach her spoiled cousin how to manage Fountenoy Hall, then hightail it back to her structured, careful life in Atlanta. Romance has never been part of Wendy's plan – so what is it about the sexy history professor researching the inn that she finds so tempting?
Rob Upshaw would be enjoying his time at the Inn at Fountenoy Hall if he wasn’t secretly hunting for a family treasure lost during Prohibition. Only a few minor inconveniences stand in his way. His uncle’s old journals are cryptic, he has only a vague description of the loot, and the beautiful, uptight innkeeper with a subtle sense of humor might hold the key to his quest. Even though Rob’s career is built on facts, he accepts he might have to lie to Wendy. But falling for her? That’s out of the question.
PAT'S REVIEW
A fun story that has Wendy Marsh taking time out of her career as a hotel executive to come home to the place she was raised and teach her cousin the ins and outs of the business. Inheriting the family business along with her cousin. Fountenoy Hall has been in the family for generations. Now their grandmother who passed has given it to the younger generation. Not really wanting to be there, she is thrown into the mix from the start with a function going on and also having two guests arrive that she was not expecting. Rob Upshaw or Doctor Upshaw a Doctor of history. With his brother have in search of the long lost treasure of their family which is supposed to have been left here when he was a revenuer during the prohibition era. With Rob and his brother searching old records saying they are researching for a client, Wendy does not mind helping. After a time the two of them have grown to like each other but still no treasure. Also, Wendy needs to make a decision about staying or going back to her old job. Her friends from College come in to be with her and the cousin for they knew the grandmother and this adds to the characters of the story. All falls apart though when after Rob tells Wendy he is in love with her and then it comes to light the real reason he is there. Leaving it is weeks later at home that he discovers where the treasure is. Will Wendy at least talk to him? Read this wonderful story to find out. Yes, there is also moonshine. I liked all of the characters really added to the story. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com |
