LET’S
WELCOME
J.M. DAVIES
AUTHOR OF:
Rad-Reader: How long did it take you to write this book?
JM: Writing, “Forgotten Love” took around six months. However, there
were several rewrites due to feedback, so in all, it took over a year to
complete.
Rad-Reader: Where did the idea come for this book come from?
JM: This is easy, I was on vacation up in Maine on Long Lake where
the story is set. I was relaxing and playing around with ideas for a story and
these characters came to life. I started to write their story on my birthday,
which is in August.
Rad-Reader: What made you want to tell this story?
JM: I enjoy creating the story and developing the characters. I hope
others enjoy it too.
Rad-Reader: Can you give us some backstory on Summer and Rafe?
JM: Summer Hamilton comes from a rich, but dysfunctional family
making her quite a broken but strong character. Her parents should have
divorced years ago as they lead separate lives, but both enjoy the status each
brings to the toxic relationship. As a teenager Summer rebelled in the most
shocking ways, including self-harm and reckless sex to gain attention this will
come out in book 2.
Rafe Byrant is also a tortured character and the black sheep of
the family. He comes from money too, something Summer has yet to understand.
His family covered up a story that would ruin their standing in the community,
or so he believes. As a teenager, he was involved in a car crash, and his
girlfriend died. It is why he signed up for the military. He holds himself
responsible as he was drunk. This is explored more in book 2
Rad-Reader: Why are the parents give more rights than he is if he is still legally married to her?
JM: Rafe and Summer were never legally married, and he is tormented by
his past when questioned by her father. His guilt rises again. He leaves
feeling responsible, unworthy, and not good enough until fate intervenes.
Rad-Reader: Had he come home from a mission injured that was causing them to not get along?
JM: Rafe was medically discharged and trying to adjust to civilian
life, which can be a challenge. Secretly, he was trying to create a business
with his friends, but his demons haunt him when he loses his job and he walks
out feeling a failure.
Rad-Reader: Why do her parents hate him so much if she loves him?
JM: Summer’s father is judgmental and unable to show
affection. A cold man. Underneath he wants what is best for Summer, but
instantly dislikes Rafe because of his rough appearance and the fact they know
nothing about him. The fact she comes from a wealthy family he believes
attracts those only interested in money.
Rad-Reader: Did he hurt her Physically at all?
JM: If you mean Rafe, no!
Rad-Reader: Matt came back for revenge is she just going to let him go?
JM: If you mean at the end, Matt didn’t know her
boyfriend worked with his father. This is a sub-plot for book 2.
Rad-Reader: Is Rafe just going to let Matt go?
JM: Rafe doesn’t know that the person who attacked Summer was Matt.
He will be furious when he does, but it’s complicated because his father is a shareholder in the business, STEPS.
Rad-Reader: Why if she wants to start something is Rafe holding back?
JM: We all keep pieces of our past secret, don’t we? Rafe wants to
reconnect with his family, but it isn’t always easy to confide, even in those
we love.
Rad-Reader: Is it safe to assume they never divorced?
JM: They never legally married.
Rad-Reader: Did she go back to dating her ex when he showed up back at the hospital? Or was that wishful thinking on his part?
JM: Summer never dated Jake Edward Lord her ex-boyfriend after he
cheated on her with her ex-friend.
Rad-Reader: Now, am I understanding correctly, she can only remember 12 months before the accident?
JM: Yes, her relationship with Rafe, she cannot
recall.
Rad-Reader: If so, does that mean they were not married very long?
JM: They weren’t legally married, although to their friends they
were. They exchanged vows and rings and had a ceremony, but it wasn’t legal.
Rad-Reader: Who is this investor and how did they come to secure him?
JM: Bill Markham is one investor and they reached
out to him.
Rad-Reader: Matt just disappeared; Do they ever find him? I’m at 55%.
JM: He appears at the opening of STEPS and will be
in book 2.
Rad-Reader: Charlie was trying to get in contact with Summer. Will he spill the beans before Rafe tells her?
JM: Spill the beans about Rafe’s past? No, I have an
idea of how this will come out.
Rad-Reader: If she thinks he’s married why would she be with him after how she knows what it’s like to be cheated on?
JM: I think she feels he is just as lost as she is. Rafe explains
that his wife left him and that she was too good for him, because of her past
she feels drawn to him, both in their own way quite broken.
Rad-Reader: Why would Gabriel do Rafe like that? By playing his girl to keep their business going. That’s cold.
JM: Gabriel acted on Rafe’s behalf when he believed
he would need an amputation not wanting Summer to feel obligated to him.
Rad-Reader: I did mention the typos in my review would you like to explain what happened?
JM: I believe I sent to the wrong file to Netgalley, which was entirely
my fault. It should have been the ARC copy and it was I believe the unedited
version. The book has been edited and proofread, so I know there are no
mistakes in the book any longer.
Rad-Reader: By the way the story ends, is there going to be another book?
JM: Forgotten Love is book 1 in the Bound by Love
series. There are four more books to be written.
Rad-Reader: What is the big thing about his parents? Are they more powerful than her parents?
JM: This is going to be an issue for both of them as they come from
affluent, controlling, and politically connected families.
Rad-Reader: Does she in the next book if there is one ever set ground rules of what is acceptable behavior and what is not? Stalker (No!) Communication (Yes!)
JM: Summer and Rafe both have to make compromises
and learn to trust each other.
Rad-Reader: If your book was made into a movie who would you want to play…
Summer: Gemma Arterton
Rafe: Charlie Hunnam
Niall: Nathan Parson
Gabriel: Canelo Alverez
Chayton: Anthony Joshua
Nicki: Katy Perry
JM:
Rafe: I always pictured Charlie Hunnam
Nicki: Chatchawan Patomsakulwong
Rad-Reader: What songs best describes your characters or your book best?
“Be Good to Her – Bexar”
After being discharged from the Navy SEAL due to an injury. The adjustment was difficult, but he had his three buddies. They too were in the same place. At the time it happened they were talking about a project they wanted to do together when they left the service. After the injury heals, he meets Summer and falls hard. When he loses his job, it starts to spiral and advise from Summer to go to the VA for help does not help. He bails when she needs him most.
“Hard Place – H. E. R.”
Summer loved Rafe so much, but she knows there are parts of him that she will never be able to be a part of. Many secrets, she calls him like so many times over the last six weeks. In hopes, they can make their marriage work. She hopes her news on this Christmas Eve will be the one thing to shoot the lifeblood back into his eyes, to live again…with her. But since he’s over an hour late it doesn’t look like it.
“Missin’ and Wishin’ – Drew Jacobs”
A year later both their lives have changed because of that Christmas Eve, he was late, and Summer was in an accident. Now she has no idea who he is. So, when he happens upon her at a diner working as a waitress his heart stops. She is not his Summer anymore. When she smiles at another man or laughs with him, he remembers the times they laughed together. How much he squandered away by taking her love for granted.
JM: Aw thanks for digging out these songs, I have added to my
playlist. I create a new one for each book. Out of these 3 choices, I would say
the last one fits the mood of the book best!
Rad-Reader: When did you know you wanted to be a writer?
JM: I have always been a writer, but 10 years ago, I started to write
full-time because I had stories I needed to write. I haven’t stopped since.
Rad-Reader: What are three things you can’t leave home without?
JM: My phone, lip gloss, and a pen!
Rad-Reader: Where is your favorite place to do your writing?
JM: My office.
Rad-Reader: What is your next project and when will it be out?
JM: I am writing the final in my paranormal series called Destiny of
the Witch, due out in the at the end of 2019. I am also working on Revisiting
Love, book 2 in the Bound by Love series.

JM,
We are so glad we contacted you about being with us. After I mentioned the errors I wasn't too sure. But you were cool not like some in our past. But, you checked into it. Because the thing is, I really like your book and that is what the others were missing. There is a problem let's find it.
This is why I am so glad you came on and we cleared the errors up and you got to tell us about your book. Answering crazy questions I ask myself while I am reading. All our authors have the option not to answer some of the odd questions. Most see the real Question mark I was having at that moment in the book and answer.
Others get upset that I see their character in a certain light or don't see what they want me to see. Hence my question. You answered all of the craziness of my inner fan-girl. Your time is limited I know. So, thanks.
Char
