A family wedding with a fake boyfriend, meddling parents, and an obsessive ex . . . What could go wrong?
The only thing worse than being single at my sister’s wedding is finding out that my ex will be there too. Not just any ex—the guy everyone expected me to marry, the man I came to Jackson Harbor to escape.
Now I need a date and fast. Enter Carter Jackson—the firefighter who’s dealing with an unwanted five minutes of fame ever since a shirtless photo of him saving a puppy went viral. He’s warding off propositions left and right, and he needs a fake relationship as much as I do.
Sweet and sexy, Carter is completely off-limits. See, I have a rule. A no heartache rule. Not only is Carter my friend and a known heartbreaker, but his job as a firefighter puts him in danger daily, and that’s something I just can’t handle.
The commitment between us might be pretend, but the passion all too real. As crazy as it makes me, I have to keep Carter at an arm’s length. Even that might not be enough to spare my heart.
Crazy for Your Love is book five in The Boys of Jackson Harbor series. All books in this series can be read as a stand-alone.
MY REVIEW:
Love this couple they are just so broken but in their own way. Yet, there is so much to be saved and to be worked with together. Being that they have each had secret crush can work in their favor. Most of all their overall friendship will make it strong when it seems helpless.
You see Teagan fled Virginia and arrived in Jackson Harbor to seek comfort and safety away from her past. Which no one knows about. Her third year in, her real life in the nightmare appears. She asks Carter for a favor. Hence, bringing them to the auction night.
Carter was calling in his favor asking Teagan to bid on him. So, he wouldn’t have to spend to evening with a strangely obsessed fan calling him a hero for saving a dog. Not for firefighting which he does. The bidding was out of the roof due to Carter’s media hits. Carter changes course bringing Teagan into the mix. A very cute scene unfolds you will enjoy it.
Then her sister’s wedding is coming to town and they tell her that her ex is coming to the wedding also. It puts real fear into her all the way to her bones. She asks Carter once again for another HUGE favor. He says yes. Especially, when she says it is because she needs him to play her boyfriend again due to her ex coming to her sister’s wedding. The same boyfriend from a year ago.
While holding Teagan during the visit a year ago pretending to be her boyfriend in front of the ex she was shaking with fear. So, he will do anything to keep her safe. Not to mention five days with Teagan is a no brainer.
The connection these two characters share oozes off the pages. With the laughter, fights (which are passion filled), desire, and the bottom line they genuinely want to be there for one another, to help them cope with their past but for anything else they need.
I loved that they were not perfect and that they were able to show their under-bellies to each other. Yet, they don’t cut each other any slack either. Even their humor which there is a lot since the family loves gossip…but the two like a flirt with each other as a form of verbal foreplay.
All in all, you will enjoy this book. It will keep you reading four sure. It had all the things I love romance, friends to lover, family angst, the villains, humor, and pain.
I give this: 5 stars. Provided with netgalley.com.
