PAT'S REVIEW

I am so late with this review and I know that I should have done this around the holidays but I got caught up with life. Now that is not to say that I did not enjoy this book, because I did! What a fantastic book with not only a great selection of cookies to add to anyone’s recipe box. The author gives you a step by step on each cookie, the dough and then a picture of how the finished product should look. Now for most people I hear that the dough is the most trouble and hear the author gives you help and tells you why it could be wrong. I must say for those you can’t call their grandmother or mother for help anymore this is a go-to book. Her molasses spice cookies remind me of my grandmothers’ which I was never able to get her recipe, she does have a little twist on the way I remember but hay close is close. There is also a recipe for gingerbread if you are into that during the holidays. Anyway you get her icing for different types and one for royal icing. You also are given a look at the different tips for a pastry bag and also how to use one. She also gives you packing ideas as well. You can see that this is a totally through book and should be on anyone’s shelf for cookies. An excellent book. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 star. PAT'S REVIEW

This is a cookbook about pressure cooking or the use of a pressure cooker. I must say that they have come a long way from when my father would use ours when I was growing up in the 60’s and 70’s. He usually only cooked meats and made sauerkraut in ours and that is what I learned. Now in this book, the author takes you through how to make yogurt, risotto, chili, and ziti to name just a few dishes that are mentioned and the recipes for these and many other dishes are inside this wonderful book along with easy follow to steps. A very good book. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 4 stars. Follow us atwww.1rad-readerreviews.com

PAT'S REVIEW
The second book in this series and in this one Adrianna an environmentalist who was also in the first book comes home to protest and find out what Trent and his family are going to do with some land that they bought. The rumor is oil and that is why the protest, but growing up in the area her group thinks she might be able to find out more. The problem with that whole thought is Trent has always liked her and finds ways to spend time with her. This makes her feel good but also adds her to the lists of attacks that keep happening to the family, she also is worried about her job with the protest group. In the middle of all of that, she is dealing with a family problem that becomes much more than it starts out as and adding that with Trent and his family you have a good book. The characters are good, you find out a lot about Adrianna and her family, but you still do not find out who has been causing all of the destruction that has been going on since the first book. That is my only negative in the whole thing. Overall a good story. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 4 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

PAT'S REVIEW

This is the perfect book for that person who does not have a green thumb but still tries to grow plants. You now have the perfect guide on which plants are better for indoors and which are better for outdoors. The author also explains watering, and which plants can be in full sun and which need to be in partial. Just because most are part of the cactus family, not all are good in full sun, why spend the money and watch your plant die. Now you are given a helpful guide in choosing the right cactus for you and once it takes off the author has also given an area in the book for showing the reader on how to separate the plants once they take off without killing them. This book, of course, is not for everyone some people will think they don’t need it, but just how the Aloe Vera cactus has many different varieties there is one that is for healing and you can see the picture of that so when you go to the store to buy one you know you are getting the right one. That is just one example. Overall a very good book with excellent photos and descriptions of every plant. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave this book 5 stars. He’s so screwed...

PAT'S REVIEW

A very nice story that really caught by surprise. Cash Hall has really been in love with his best friend wife since they were in college. He has since watched them get married, became business partner with her husband and has now seen them divorced. He cannot believe that his friend would treat a woman like Callie Sutherland the way he did. Now he and Beau just deal with business and since Callie has returned from Europe he finds time to spend with her. She is finding herself looking forward to the time she and Cash can be together and talk, for he is the only person other than a few friends that give her encouragement about her wanting to start a new business. The more time they spend together the more they realize that they are falling for each other, but Cash is confused with the whole friend, business partner and how it will look. He then decides do I want to walk away from her or the business. A very good story and the author takes you back to college and the day when Cash falls for Callie. This is a very good book with many good characters, and like I said much better than I was expecting from the title. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Hooked On You (Chicago Rebels #4)

HOOKED ON YOU                                          KATE MEADER

Violet Vasquez never met her biological father, so learning he left his beloved hockey franchise—the Chicago Rebels—to her is, well, unexpected. Flat broke and close to homeless, Violet is determined to make the most of this sudden opportunity. Except dear old dad set conditions that require she takes part in actually running the team with the half-sisters she barely knows. Working with these two strangers and overseeing a band of hockey-playing lugs is not on her agenda…until she lays eyes on the Rebels captain and knows she has to have him.

Bren St. James has been labeled a lot of things: the Puck Prince, Lord of the Ice, Hell’s Highlander...but it’s the latest tag that’s making headlines: washed-up alcoholic has-been. This season, getting his life back on track and winning the Cup are his only goals. With no time for relationships—except the fractured ones he needs to rebuild with his beautiful daughters—he’s finding it increasingly hard to ignore sexy, all-up-in-his-beard Violet Vasquez. And when he finds himself in need of a nanny just as the playoffs are starting, he’s faced with a temptation he could so easily get hooked on.

For two lost souls, there’s more on the line than just making the best of a bad situation… there might also be a shot at the biggest prize of all: love.

PAT'S REVIEW

The last book in the series about the three sisters taking ownership of the hockey team for the season. If you have been reading the other books you know it is a little more than that. Now you are given the third sister and daughter of the former owner, Violet Vasquez who throughout the other two books has been working on discovering herself or at least trying too. She is now tasked with watching Bren St. James two daughters while the team goes and plays the away games for the hockey playoffs. Bren and Violet are both working on improving themselves each for different reasons. One thing that Bren is finding out is the reason why she is such a free spirit or comes across that way. He is also finding out that his daughters are connecting with her and he is also and both of those scare him. Violet becomes so confused about her feelings and just about everything that is going with him and her sisters that she takes off for Puerto Rico with the promise to return but this scares her and the people around her. Now she must decide what she wants and go for it. A very good book to go with the other books in the series. I am sorry to see this end. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Unless he kills for it.

PAT'S REVIEW

Let me first say that I read this book twice and I really did try to give it a go, but for me, this was not it. Maybe I was looking for what his other character was because this just was not it. I will say I liked the opening and got the 70’s thing and the references. I understood the dark theme and was okay with that as well. But just like Shakespeare, yea I did not get the whole thing even in school. I even went back and looked at Macbeth to try to help with this book a second time and like the 70’s when I was in high school I wanted to read the Godfather start forward crime I could understand, “leave the gun take the cannoli’s”. I am not trying to make light because I know this author has put a lot of effort into writing this book and coming up with all of the characters and so once again I am blaming me and not the author for not enjoying this book, I know others will. It has plenty of action, death, murder mayhem, paranoia, sex all the makings for a great story and one I usually like but there is so much. Anyway I know others will enjoy it. Whine with Cheese: (Vineyard Pleasures Series #1)

Max heads to Napa Valley's Angel of the Vine Winery, maker of her favorite Moscato, to scout out tours for work and--let's be honest--catch a glimpse of the owner's drool-worthy son, Chase L'Angevin, as seen on YouTube.

Nothing says movin' on like some sweet wine and eye candy. Right?

Chase, who likes the pin-up girl type, starts to pour on the charm the moment he meets this demure beauty. She even blushes over every compliment he gives her like she's been deprived of them.

Lavish the bubbly blonde with all the attention she deserves? Of course.

When their first date rolls into a long, romantic weekend, their chemistry ignites faster than a matchstick in hell.

But, when Max's fears of rushing into another relationship start to haunt her, and Chase becomes all too eager to keep trying to sweep her off her feet, they both find themselves tumbling down a rabbit hole of an adventure in pursuit of what true love is all about.

PAT'S REVIEW

A book that starts off with Maxine trying to decide to stay in her relationship or not when it becomes not. She then takes off for a winery in Napa, meeting Chase the owner's son. When going back for a second date starts off great by the second day Chase must leave with his father for a quick business trip and low and behold Maxine is injured while on a tour and gets short-term memory loss and becomes locked up with her ex again who does some shady things legally. When she finally starts making sense of everything she gets out of dodge in a hurry but Chase is not acting like the Chase before. Now when she goes to France to be with her best friend all she is looking for is friendship. Will Chase come around or will Chase’s cousin fill the void? A good story fast read, I did have a few issues with the ending but that could just be me. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 4 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

PAT'S REVIEW

This book will give the information and guides to begin the search of your Italian Heritage. The author gives you useful tips but then also provides you with information from Italy on who to go about searching for your relatives. Weather through church records or some legal records. She also gives you address as well. You must remember that in Europe and especially Italy that a lot of the time the local church kept all birth, death and marriage records, so it is easier to start their first then move on to the local office. Also some regions because of the lack of funds especially in the southern towns were not able to keep very good records, so the church is where everyone turned to. This is all explained by the author. She does a great job of giving you the information and then at the end of the book giving you all of the addresses that she explained in the book. A very good book. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 4 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com
