MY REVIEW:
This was an interesting book from the time I read the blurb/synopsis. I was curious to see how the author was going to work out this dilemma.
This is a story about Chenille Abrams a late twenty-something all-natural Ebony woman who is a makeup artist. To some Atlanta’s rich and famous. She gets a gig in Jamaica at a music festival working on some artist that will be performing. Her best friend and assistant Kara, mess up the booking of the hotel and they are left without a place to stay at the venue.
At the airport Brayden Carpenter, an NFL Dallas Knight’s football player catches sight of her at the airport. He can’t take his eyes off of her. So, when he is standing in line at the hotel and hears their problem with the hotel. He offers to give the ladies his suite all expenses paid, the only thing he asks is for Chenille to have dinner with him. She tells him, yes but she has no clue who he is. dinner was all he was getting from her no matter what. He agreed.
Kara her friend laughs at the look on his face when she said she did know who he is. She says she knows who he is and introduces them. She explains that Chenille is not a sports fan. That she is a makeup artist with her own business to run and there to work doing some of the artists that will be performing at the festival. That they are from Atlanta and that Chenille does a lot of the rich and famous there. They both seemed pleased with each other’s stats.
The one not pleased is Jarrod, Brayden’s teammate, and best friend. You see he was there to get as much booty as he could get and all at once if he could get it and have Brayden in his room would crowd his style. A threesome with him as one of the players was not included. They work it out. Chenille and Brayden have dinner only too.
He does invite her to training camp however so now his pursuit is on and I have to say he remains a gentleman. So, here is my thing I can’t seem to warm up to Chenille in this first half of the story. She’s harsh, argumentative, and doesn’t want this relationship really at all. I can’t understand why she bothered to get married to him at all.
Don’t get me wrong Brayden although he is sweet he is manipulative in getting what he wants. He is used to getting what he wants when he wants it not unlike his mother. But not as pushy or obvious. He is secretive and never includes her in important decisions making waves that make a tsunami look small.
Will it change? You will have to be the judge of that. But I will say Brayden is not what he puts out there. He is a guy who wants what he wants and goes about getting it any way he can. Manipulation of the facts, his wife, or those around him. This time it may cost them all a pretty price. Although, Chenille does her fair share to add to the situation. This is a very interesting and intense story. It will surprise you with it’s ending. I give this: 5++++ stars. Provided by netgalley.com. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com.
