Braxton: I should probably be dead or in jail right now. Instead, thanks to some tough love, I worked my ass off and now I own a string of tattoo parlors throughout the Pacific Northwest. And yet the one thing I’ve always wanted—a family—still seems out of reach. When my best friend gets married, I’m just hoping to blow off some steam with the super-hot maid of honor. But after Cara Thompson tracks me down to tell me she’s pregnant, she’s more surprised than I am when I tell her I’m all in.
Cara: For the first time in my life, I’m living for myself—not for my parents and their ridiculous expectations. I gave up on my MBA, dropped out of the Ivy League, and moved to Portland to pursue my dream of becoming an artist. And what’s the first thing I do? Get knocked up. For a tatted-up sex god, Braxton Henley seems way too eager to “be there for me.” Is this guy serious? Maybe. He sure is patient. Because he won’t back down until I admit what I know in my heart: that our one night standmight’ve led me to the one.
PAT'S REVIEW
Let me first say that the female character Cara is by far one of the best that I have read in a very long time. She is doing what she wants to do which is art and she is doing it away from her parents. Clear across the country. Living in Portland she goes to her friend’s wedding and meets a man that she is instantly attracted to. He is tall, muscles for days, and plenty of tattoos. She decides that if he is up for it she will have a one night stand. At 24, she has never had a one night stand. Braxton owns multiple tattoo parlors and not really wanting to go to his friend’s wedding he is now very glad he did, he has spotted a very beautiful woman and she has eyes for him. As soon as, Cara is done with all of the maids of honor stuff the two of them spend the remainder of the reception together until she takes him up to her room. After a wonderful night it is Braxton who wakes up to an empty bed and it is Cara running away scared of her feelings, but happy and feeling good at the same time. A month later goes by and her friend stops by to check on her because she is not feeling so good, when she suggests could she be pregnant? After multiple tests from different manufacturers have all been positive, they are going with her being pregnant. Now the fun part, the father. Cara marches herself the next day to Braxton’s tattoo parlor to give him the good news. For Braxton, it is good news because he never thought he would be a father or even make it 28. He is dealing with so many emotions from why she left the room, so she is really here, too she looks sick and then I want to help you. This is where the book takes off for me and you find the backstory of these two people and really how it is right that they are together. The author will take you on a journey of having and have not, and friends sticking up for their friend only to make things worse for the two of them. All of this and a dog Lucy if they can make it through together. A wonderful story. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com |
