LET'S WELCOME OUR GUEST AUTHOR: JOSS WOOD AUTHOR OF: THE CEO'S NANNY AFFAIR

LET’S WELCOME
JOSS WOOD

AUTHOR OF:

Rad-Reader:  How did you come up with this story?

Joss:  This book is part of the Ballantyne Billionaire's series. Within this series, I've been exploring what family means and whether love is stronger than blood. As I wrote Linc into my other books, his story started to take shape.

Rad-Reader:  What is it with Tate living on an island?  Or is that just a stopover?

Joss:  Living on an island was a metaphorical reference to how she lives her life. She doesn't let anybody in, or let anybody get close to her so essentially, she's on an "emotional" island.

Rad-Reader:  How many children does Kari have total that she has abandoned that Tate is so upset when she is left with this baby?

Joss:  Kari had a child with Linc, Shaw, whom she abandoned and then she had Ellie, whom she passed on to Tate.

Rad-Reader:  Why don’t Tate and Kari get along?

Joss:  In Tate's words...

She was a product of her tumultuous past, Tate decided as resentment twisted her stomach into knots. Her life had been perfect before Kari and her mom, Lauren, her mother’s twin, came to live with them for what was supposed to be a month or so until the single mom found a job and her bearings. A month had turned into six, and her dad had moved out, threatening divorce unless their lives returned to a normal, Kari- and Lauren-free existence.

Her mom, Lane, chose her twin. Tate had lost her dad, her home and her mother, who seemed to prefer Kari to her, all in less than a year. They all had lost the financial security her father had brought to the table. Then when she was eight and Kari eleven, her aunt had been diagnosed with breast cancer and quickly passed away, leaving the three of them to muddle along, moving from one rental to another. Lane had managed to scrape enough money together to cover the legal fees for her to formally adopt Kari and to petition the courts to change Tate’s surname to Harper, with no objection from her father.

All her life Tate had felt like the third wheel and a stranger in her own house. Her teenage years with Kari had been pure hell. Kari had an uncontrollable temper, a sense of entitlement and was a master manipulator.

Rad-Reader:  Why is Kari on the run or is it more than we can know at this time and more than she is willing to share?

Joss:  I could tell you but it's a huge twist in the book and a massive spoiler alert. It's not what you think...

Rad-Reader:  Why did Kari leave Linc at the altar?

Joss:  I believe there are some people who can't settle down, who are always looking for something new and exciting around the next corner, terrified that they will miss out on something bigger and better than what they have. I think Kari is this type of person...though walking away from a sexy billionaire was not clever!

Rad-Reader:  Why does Tate keep moving all the time?  What is she afraid of if she stays in one place too long?

Joss:  Tate explains it so much better than I do...

Tate had coped by dreaming of running away to places like Patagonia and Santorini, Istanbul and Ethiopia. Anywhere, she decided, was better than sharing a small house with a selfish, irresponsible drama queen and her enabler. When she left home to travel the world, she’d realized her teenage instincts were correct and that she was much happier having an ocean and a couple of continents between her and her mother and Kari. She liked being alone and free, not having to answer to anyone but herself. It wasn’t that she didn’t like people, she did but her mom and Kari were emotional leeches. At a young age, she’d learned to create little pockets of solitude around herself and tried to spend as much time there as possible.

When you didn’t rely on anybody for anything—companionship, love, company—they had no power to hurt you.

Rad-Reader:  Does she not like rich people the way she reacts to Linc?

Joss:  Linc scares her because he's the first person whom she simply can't walk away from without a backward glance.

Rad-Reader:  Linc is still angry with Kari but allows Tate in to talk.  Was it just lusting after Kari that he let her in or his sense of curiosity?

Joss:  Linc is, essentially, a really good guy. He's crazy about family, his son and the Ballantyne's mean everything to him. Ellie, Kari's daughter, is his son's half-sister, he can't just let her walk away without trying to do something-- anything!-- to help. He's not that type of guy.

Rad-Reader:  Jo has found herself a good man and now Linc needs a nanny.  But he seems to handle kids’ great.  Why can’t he handle Shaw himself?

Joss:  He's the CEO of an international company with upmarket jewelry stores situated all around the world. The Ballantyne empire is massive and he calls the shots...he needs help at home.

Rad-Reader:  Linc finds himself attracted to Tate is it because she looks so much like Kari?

Joss:  I don't think so; Linc likes the fact that she's independent, that she's sassy and that she's taking responsibility for a helpless child that would've been dumped with Social Services. The fact that she's gorgeous is a bonus!

Rad-Reader:  Tell us about your hometown growing up what you liked about it?

Joss:  My early childhood was spent in a small town in Zimbabwe called Victoria Falls. Victoria Falls is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Victoria Falls is surrounded by game reserves and the end of our property was separated from the game reserve by a tall fence. It was very normal for us to see elephants, buffalo, lions, cheetah etc at the bottom of our garden.

Rad-Reader:  Did you always want to be a writer?

Joss:  Yep. I wrote my first book at eight and never really stopped writing. It's always been my solace and my escape.

Rad-Reader:  Do you like to travel like Tate does or are a homebody?

Joss:  I am happiest with a backpack on my back and a ticket in my hand! I'll go anywhere and everywhere on a moment's notice and I have been lucky to have visited Europe a few times and the States. My favorite places to visit are the wild places of Southern Africa.

Rad-Reader:  If you could travel anywhere where would it be?

Joss:  I'd love to go to South America, Alaska, and the Scandinavian countries. The East...anywhere I haven't been before.

Rad-Reader:  Do you like trying exotic foods like Tate?

Joss:  Yep. I'll try anything once! Except for bugs...

Rad-Reader:  What is your next project and when is it due out?

Joss: Sage Ballantyne's book will be out in January called Little Secrets: Unexpectedly Pregnant and there's another Ballantyne book due for release later in 2018.
