Emerson just made her dream come true as a professional cheerleader for her favorite pro football team. But even though the plus-size athlete is breaking down boundaries, she still has to contend with the massive rulebook. Carbs? Nope. Chocolate? Definitely not. Still, Emerson loves her curves, and she’ll rock the hell out of this job even if it kills her. Except for one mandate that is easier read than done…
No fraternizing with the players.
Problem one is Miller Quinton: Emerson’s first love, first sex, and the guy who still ignites her daydreams and R-rated fantasies. Thrown back together, Miller and Emerson feel the undeniable pull of passion again, even if the conflict that tore them apart seems insurmountable. Then there’s way-too-sexy Grant Sanchez. He has a serious reputation with the ladies, and when it comes to winning someone he wants, he doesn’t let anyone stand in his way.
Now Emerson is breaking every rule in the manual. But what she doesn’t know is that she’s part of a wicked little game—one that could steal both her dream and her heart.
MY REVIEW:
What a wonderfully complicated intensely
funny book. The characters were each a
tapestry of emotions and personalities.
They are all puzzle pieces that belong together in order to work yet
very odd in shapes to create a work of art called friendship.
This is a story of two best friends who
had always been more. Emerson Rodner was
raised by her father who loved her very much but over time was slowly losing
his memory. Yet, during her growing up
it was hard for her. You see she had
always been a plus size girl.
When she was in junior high and high
school she was a cheerleader but always talked about by her own teammates
because she had larger breasts, hips, and ass.
But her BFF always came to her rescue to help her through it. Miller Quinton the star of the football team
will not take the field without his favorite cheerleader there to cheer him on.
He doesn’t like the douche bag she is
seeing because he is always cheating on her so he does things like kiss her in
front of him to piss him off. Both their
feelings started to go toward more. Then
one day the worst possible news comes ever.
Miller’s mom passes away. As if
that wasn’t bad enough Miller is forced to move with his dad who is in the
military to Louisiana. So, they are
moving within a day of the funeral.
Basically, the other side of the country.
Before he leaves though Miller professes
he loves to Em and she to him and they kiss and they have each other as their “first.” Em is angry, scared, devastated, and so much
more than she will have to live without Miller in her life. Because he is her everything. He loves her flaws and all.
Miller promised her he would never forget
her and abandon her. Their plan had
always been for her to be a professional cheerleader like her mom who was built
like her. Miller would be in the NFL and
there was never any question they would be on the same team the Washington Bucks’. But a falling out due to none of their own
doing causes a long rift to which causes pain, hurt feelings, and a loss of
friendship.
Do to hard work and determination. Em made it to a cheer squad for the Bucks’
after her third try. Miller was traded
from the original team he was on to the Bucks’ in his second year in the
NFL. Both the same day. After making the squad and at her car crying
tears of joy. Em is comforted by the
most unlikely source. It would be the
foul mouth highly paid, (by rights), the new face of Armani, Casanova himself,
and all too sexy Grant Sanchez.
He sees if she’s okay finding out they are
tears of joy and that not only does she have a slamming body but that they can
be friends. Why you ask? Because she hates celery. But she says, No, they aren’t friends because
he has already given her a nickname, “Curves.”
When all players arrive, they have a
contest and pick a cheerleader and Sanchez picked him without batting an
eye. He picked “Curves.” But she wants nothing to do with football
players she had already been hurt by one not going there again. Sanchez turns out to be more than she thought
possible.
See where this game changer takes you because
there is a major plot twist for sure. It
was so not expecting it. I was so not
thinking it would end that was that was for sure but I was extremely excited
that it did. I can’t wait for the next
installment to come out. I want to see
how the next couple fairs. Sanchez is by
far my favorite character in this book.
I give this: 5 ++++ Stars.
