A popular DJ at the hottest station in Nashville, Charley Layton is doing what she’s always wanted to do: living in the heart of country music. Charley puts her career first and relationships second, but when a charismatic stranger in a black cowboy hat invites her back to his place, she decides to give herself one night of no-strings fun.
But Dylan Monroe isn’t a no-strings kind of guy. Charley is beautiful, brainy, and brassy as hell—the kind of girl he’s always wanted. When his record label books him an interview on Charley’s show, he’s determined to find out why he woke up alone, and when he can see her again.
With Dylan now the most eligible bachelor in country music, Charley doubts their fling stands a chance, but she’s willing to try. Dylan dreams of fame, but he also craves a life offstage with Charley. Can he convince her that both of their dreams are worth chasing, and that love is still possible, even in the spotlight?
PAT'S REVIEW
This was a fun fast paced story about love and country music. Charley Layton has moved to Nashville after growing up and working at a small radio station. She is now an afternoon DJ’s in of the town’s biggest country music station, this has been her dream for as long as she can remember. Spinning her grandfather’s records in her bedroom and talking in her hair brush like she was a DJ already. Now her and two women she works with at the station Ruby, the famous morning person, and her roommate Mattie, who is in accounting. This night they are at a bar getting ready to listen to new country acts when Dylan Monroe along with his drummer is already at the bar. His drummer wants to make a play for Mattie, which is fine for Dylan because he thinks Charley is gorgeous. They end up talking and dancing, then sneak out the back and he takes her to a burger place. Both are having a good time and neither is looking for a relationship but end up back at his place where he sings her a song. After a night together she leaves without saying goodbye and meets a female roommate who says he has not been with anyone for two years. Dylan now is getting a second shot in the recording business and his manager who is a jerk has set up a met and great for a release of his single at the radio station that Charley works at, and she is going to do the on air interview also, awkward. They pull it off and he is waiting for her after she leaves work. Charley thinks everything is good and he is out of her system until they are at another show for the station and yes Dylan and his band are singing. When he sees her he changes a song to the one he wrote and played for her that night and at the end they kiss which ends’ up on the internet and she freaks out. His manager becomes a bigger jerk and when they decide to date and he ends up on a six-week tour the manager becomes a total a-hole. Now he must find her and when he does deal with her grandfather which I totally like, and her neighbor Elvis, who is well just a big, big guy. This is a very good story and I enjoyed all of the characters from Ruby, all the way to the grandfather. This book is a very good book and I thank the author for allowing to read it. Got this from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com |
