WILD AT HEART
Faith Mendes needs to get her life in order and get a job--yesterday. Thankfully, the live-in house-keeper position at the King brothers' ranch is up for grabs. Problem is, she'd be working with her old childhood crush, Nate King. He's sexy, wealthy, and his Texas-sized charms are legendary...and, clearly, impossible to resist.
Nate never thought twice about his best friend's little sister. Back then, Faith was off-limits. But now that she's all grown up, Nate's whole world has turned upside-down. Razor-sharp, down-to-earth, and hotter-than-heck, Faith is everything Nate has ever dreamed of in a woman...and maybe even in a wife. But Faith has loved and lost enough already to risk it all on another known bad-boy. How can Nate convince her that he is the real deal--and that he's ready to rein it in and never look back?
MY REVIEW:
What I enjoyed most about this book was
this wasn’t your typical cold feet relationship.
This was one told from the POV of the man, Nate King. Two, it was not him that gets cold feet. You see this relationship if you asked Sam
Mendes his best friend was not supposed to happen. Because when they were teens he swore Nate
off his baby sister, Faith, when she was so gorgeous and he couldn’t keep his
eyes off her.
Although he trusted his friend more than
anything especially since Nate, his brothers and grandparents had always been
there for him when he needed a place to stay since kindergarten. You see Faith’s mom on day just walked away
from them when she knew she Faith could speak up for herself as a teen. Their dad was an alcoholic and an
abuser. Sam was always her
protector. Once warned then Nate too
became her protector too.
As time moved on Faith learned she had to
create her own dreams and protect her heart from guys she dated. When she actually got to date the ones her
brother didn’t scare away. He did warn
her about her boss at the bar she was working at. Sam really didn’t like him. Telling her he was nothing but trouble. She chose to move in with Cooper anyway. That is her one and only mistake.
It sure did not warrant any reason for her
to have a black and blue mark on her stomach from his fist that is for
sure. So when she showed up on Nate’s
doorstep asking for shelter and he was so ready to say NO due to his promise to
her brother and his best friend. She had
to use all that she had to get him to let her stay. She said she wanted to take the housekeeping
job so she could pay her way and earn enough to finish her master’s program and
get a place to live. When he was still
saying NO then is when she showed what Cooper had done to her. She explained she left after he hit her
once. That after what she grew up with
that is all it took. She had learned
from her past.
Nate was angry to say the least. He wanted to know exactly what happened
letting her know it would never happen again and that Cooper would pay for what
he did. He told her they would have to Sam. But she said she needed time which he
understood. So he went to get dinner and
to visit his granddad who was dying.
You see Nate, Ryder, and Chase were raised
by Clay King and their grandma too, when his mom died. They stepped in when they saw that their
son-in-law was neglecting their grandsons.
So he too is one with holes in his heart. He has decided never to get married or have children
of his own. But once Faith is under his
roof all bets are off she is a woman now not a girl.
Loving Nate is all she ever wanted as a
girl but she could never get him to look at her. But she’s a woman now and girl just wants to
have fun. This family saga was filled
with funny brotherly joking around, touchy brotherly love, and anger, painful
heartache, and touchy social subject.
Most of all loving of the best kind and family and couple love. I give this 5++++ stars. Provided by netgalley.com.
