SECOND CHANCE SUMMER#1 JILL SHALVIS
The Kincaid brothers are as rough and rugged as the Rocky Mountains they call home. Aidan has always done things his own way, by his own rules. And never has he regretted anything more than letting Lily walk out of his life ten years ago. If anyone has ever been in need of rescuing, she has. What she needs more than anything are long hikes, slow dances, and sizzling kisses. But that can only happen if he can get her to give Cedar Ridge-and this bad boy-a second chance . . .
HUBBY'S REVIEW:
This book is a beginning in a series about the Kincaid Brothers, but there is a sister as well and she is also in the story. This one starts with Lilly Danville coming back to Cedar Ridge Colorado. She is hoping not to be seen by anyone she knows and it goes good for her until she stops at a gas station with a store inside and stocks up on junk food that she has not eaten in the last ten years. That is how long she has been gone. She almost makes it out until she knocks over a display and in the mix of grabbing everything she forgot her keys and a package of cookies. The clerk asks Aiden Kincaid who is also a firefighter if he would run those items out to that hot chick. He knew who that chick was and he had not been the same since she left ten years ago and broke his heart. The problem is she does not know that. He never got to tell her. When he gets to her car she is banging her head on the steering wheel and he taps on the window holding the keys, but she does not stop until he she her the cookies. She opens the door and he tries to talk to her but she drives away. She is back in town for a couple of reasons. One for a job since she got fired from her job in San Diego after ten years, and two to try to heal from the death of her sister and then her father at her sisters funeral. She left right after the funeral. Aiden must now work on getting her to see that it was not her fault for either one of those deaths, and that she can be loved. By him. This is going to take a while, but there are some funny moments along the way. All of the characters a great and are real and the jokes that the brothers play on each other is a great piece to the story. I must say the women in this story, Char the mom, Penney, married to the oldest brother Gray, are all strong. Lily is as well it just takes both her and Aiden to work together to make a fir. A good story. I got this book from netgalley. I give this 5 stars. Follow us at: www.1rad-readerreviews.com |
