"Warning: Contains a hot military man who will steal your panties as well as your heart.""
MY REVIEW:
How do you tell your heart who to love and
to what degree? Well that is the problem
facing Rachel Andrews (Nelson) you see she was a girl from the wrong side of
the track. She was lonely young and shy
girl. Her friend Sara introduced her to
the Nelson brothers James the elder brother and Kyle.
They were instant friends from day one
they did everything together. By James
and Rachel’s senior year Rachel was starting to feel mixed emotions for the
brothers. She started hanging out more
with Kyle though. They went to the drive-in,
watched chick-flicks, and went out to the bluffs. He just used to be so in tuned with her.
But toward the end of school James started
taking her out on dates. Just kind of
assumed it was the natural progression.
Then he was off to Harvard. They
didn’t break up but they did see much of each other. Kyle seemed happy for them but it was truly
killing him inside. Kyle only ever
wanted the best for James even at his own expense no matter what he had to give
up.
When Kyle’s senior year starts he doesn’t
tell anyone but he enlist before the school year ends by joining the Army. Not saying goodbye to Rachel. She was heartbroken. After 4 months at Harvard and about the same
time in the Army both come home to Rachel.
One the same day. James decides
to ask for her hand in marriage. When
asked she looks to Kyle as if waiting for an objection or something
anything. At first he is sitting ramrod
straight arms crossed. Then he nods yes,
slightly, sits back relaxed making it her cue that he didn’t want her the way
she wanted him. So Rachel accepted James
proposal.
Those wedding plans and details took their
toll on Rachel because the guy’s mother disliked her. Mainly for coming from the wrong side of the
street. She hi-jacks the wedding. The
final straw was the honeymoon that James said he wanted and was excited about
going on which was for Hawaii. His
mother says otherwise and he is jumping ship.
Plus he wasn’t even defending her to his mother so she throws the ring
at him and calls off the wedding. Runs
to Kyle who’s in town for the wedding.
They end up at the bluffs. One
thing leads to another.
Kyle can’t take the guilt so he takes her
right back to James and gets them squared away and back together. Then he talks to his mother to get her
squared away and out of their business too.
Then its two years before she sees him again. Why?
She sees him at James’s funeral.
I really enjoyed this book the dynamics of
Kyle and Ava are just the sweetest. Kyle
did need a love tap upside the head his belly aching was driving me crazy at
some points. Loved Ren too, Kyle’s dad,
very wise man. I give this 5 stars. Provided by netgalley.com. Follow us at: www.1rad-readerreviews.com.
