Professional tennis star and everybody’s darling Maren Murphy is going home. Unfortunately, going home is the last thing she wants to do. She doesn’t know what’s worse, being named the executor of her grandfather’s estate, or having to deal with her grandfather’s business partner, Noah Callahan.
That devil’s spawn may have broken her young, tender heart, but this time it’s advantage, Murphy. If anyone’s calling a game, set, and match, it’ll be Maren.
Re-match on.
Noah Callahan is a screw up. Well...he used to be a screw up. Bad boy reputations, however, are not easily shed. He’s been a successful business owner for over a decade. You would think people in his hometown would’ve forgiven and forgotten already, but alas no. Until his one shot at redemption walks into his office.
Maren Murphy is the only woman he ever loved––and the only one he purposely drove away.
PAT'S REVIEW
The story opens with professional tennis star Maren Murphy getting injured at the U.S. Open, now having surgery and her wrist in a cast she receives a call from sister telling her that their grandfather has passed and she has been named the executor. Needing to leave London for Oklahoma she is not in the mood one to be fighting with her boyfriend slash trainer, and going back home to Oklahoma and reliving well everything. What she does not know and only finds out when she goes to the attorney’s office is that her grandfather Rowdy has become business partners with her former boyfriend and really the only guy she ever really loved since the age of ten. Noah Callahan, who has been in love with her since the age of thirteen. When they did finally start to date it is what she and him both thought it would be. That is until things begin to happen in Noah’s life, big things and when the last thing is a horrible knee injury he turns to not only alcohol but now drugs. She is not only a rising star at the University of Oklahoma but now other schools would like her to transfer for she is one of the top-ranked in the nation. Wanting to stay and help or fix Noah they break up and she leaves and is gone for ten years, now she is face to face with the man she once loved and ten years ago vowed to hate forever. There break up was not so good when you read about it yikes. Now having to work together she is slowing seeing him again as he was all of those years ago, but when asked why he still won’t tell her the real reason for why he did what he did? Frustration is beginning to mount in her between Noah, her family, wanting to get back to tennis, her ex or not and of course the death of her grandfather. When she finds out the reason for his partnership with Noah it bothers her some, but then a letter also talks about why he asked Noah to do what he did and this brings another round of hurt and disappointment. Can she overcome these last ones and start fresh? Who knows, what I do know is that this is a wonderful story from the beginning to end with very good characters and has just enough twists and turns to keep you wondering from one page to the next. Very much worth the read. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com |
