After one too many heartbreaks, Travis Blake hung up his cowboy hat and put Big Verde, Texas, behind him. But when he gets the call that his young nephew needs him, he knows he has to return home. His plan is to sell the family ranch and hightail it back to Austin, but there's a small problem: the one person who stands in his way is the one person he can't resist.
Maggie is pretty sure she hates Travis Blake. He's irritating, he's destroying her business, and . . . and he's just so frickin' attractive. But when they're forced to work together, Maggie discovers that the Most Annoying Man in the World is more than he seems. He's sweet with his nephew, he helps out in the community, and he makes her heart flutter. Maggie doesn't want to risk everything on a man who wants to leave, but what if she can convince this wayward cowboy to stay?
PAT'S REVIEW
This story jumps at you from the opening pages. With Travis just out of the Army and also dealing nephew whose mother died, and his father is in prison. Now Travis is back at Big Verde the ranch he was never planning on ever seeing again. But he is all that Henry has and though he would like to walk away that is just not in him. Now hoping he can sell the ranch and move on he is also back to working as a lawn guy and will fix anything around town. He also will do things for others without expecting pay or anything in return, he has always been like that even though people have always talked behind his back. Mary Margaret Mackey or Maggie owns the ranch next to his which also grows apples and leaves notes on his fence every day with words of encouragement about fixing his fence. She also went to college for landscaping design and is wanting to land a big contract in town. Deciding to go to the Halloween dance as red riding hood, after a turn down she ends up at the bar and ends up in the arms of the big bad wolf. He also takes her into the woods where he shows her his moves. Afterward with neither one knowing who the other one is this only adds to the story. Especially when they are both awarded half each of the contracts and she is to work with him not knowing he is the wolf. This is more than two people trying to get together. People must get past their perceptions of others, how to work together and for Travis not wanting to let go of Henry. A very good book that will keep you turning the page after page until the end. Good characters and Henry grabs you from the beginning. A very good book. I received this book from netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com |
