MY REVIEW:
This was a short story and you will not regret reading it. You get a little bit of everything in it. You have family drama, the sexy alpha male, the uptight chick that does bad girl, you have the meddling best friend, and start fanning yourself, bedroom scenes.
The thing I loved the most was when things got too awkward or tense this author had her characters use humor to combat it. But not in a slapstick way but in a way of lines out of fairy tales, TV shows, etc.…. Breaking the ice and allowing the characters that felt uncomfortable to feel at ease.
Showing that because Brett the hockey player was not just any hockey player, sexy body, or dumb jock (ok he owned two of those things for sure.) Yet, he could be kind, gentle, and a gentleman and the polar opposite of the tabloids. Not at all what anyone would expect from him. You see at the time Chelsea meets him she has no clue who he is at all.
Let me back up. On the night Chelsea and Brett meet he had just that day moved into one of the suites at the hotel. He was trying to take his mind off the two and a half hours of ass chewing he took from the new owner of the team he got traded to.
Chelsea, on the other hand, did not get a promotion at her father’s company her brother got it. She works her tail off and her brother has always been the skater in the family you know the partier. But he gets the promotion. She has always done the grunt work the one with the clipboard to do the checkoff. This today was the last straw.
Playing by the rules while her brother did nothing having fun and no work has gotten old. She was going to do something about it and walk on the wild side. She decided she would have a one and done night of pure, no name, nothing but sex kind of night. She did her research, DUH! There was a marketing conference at the Hotel Burke a great place to lose her good-girldom.
It just so happened that Brett was getting his two-drink max on there too. When they meet as she steps up to the bar the chemistry is instantly hot. She’s going for sexy dangerous but he sees her as sexy cute. My favorite line in the whole book that gives you a hint of what your in for is, “She’d gone shopping for a tricycle and ended up with a Harley.”
