Savvy stylist Amanda Wright loves Marietta, her hair salon, and her clients, and no client is more dear to her heart than eighty-year-old Bette Justice–even if her years have made her a little fragile. So when Bette asks Amanda to help her convince her determined grandson, Tyler, a successful game designer, that Marietta is the right home for Bette, Amanda can’t say no.
Tyler Justice has a one-track mind–he wants to take care of his beloved grandmother. He can’t understand her resistance to move to Texas and is sure that the young friend she keeps mentioning–Amanda–is taking advantage of his grandmother’s generosity. He reaches Marietta determined to put the salon owner in her place and bring his grandmother home…until smart, kind Amanda starts to tug at his heart in ways he never expected.
But just as Tyler and Amanda start to form a real connection, will a long-buried family secret destroy their chance at love?
MY REVIEW:
This was such a good story. Bette is an eighty-year-old young grandmother
who lives her life large.
Bette Justice is the grand dame of Marietta,
Montana. She is a part of the movie club,
the bridge club, the birthday club, and numerous charities. She’s a widow now to a husband Don a strict
ex-military man who expected no less than that from those at home. Including those at home.
Especially, his son Patrick. So, much that he left home for college only
returning one time, and then never again.
Making it that in order for her to meet and visit her grandsons she had
to go to California.
When Don passed away and a year later
Patrick, Bette was devastated. But when
Coby, her eldest grandson passed it made her more determined to keep close to Tyler.
Tyler was determined not to live in his
brother’s shadow when he died and become his own man. Becoming one of the Silicone Valley prize
game designers. Starting from scratch
and becoming the king at the top. When
it came time to go public he decided he wanted to sell to a bigger company. Where he could still have creative control
for the first five years before stepping down.
But it meant moving to Texas and that where he wanted Bette.
Bette didn’t want to go. So, she knew he was coming for the weekend to
talk her into going with him. When he
got there, she wanted all her ducks in a row.
She talked to her young friend and hair stylist Amanda Wright.
She wanted Mandy to show and tell Tyler
all the wonderful things about Marietta.
Because all of Bette’s friends were there and she just couldn’t
leave. Bette loved Mandy to death she knew
she and her sister had come from nothing.
Never took handouts. Worked for everything they had and put themselves
through college.
What Bette didn’t know was that Tyler had
found out gifted and loaned money to Mandy so he had to meet this Mandy person
for himself make sure she wasn’t taking advantage of his grandma. Was he in for a surprise. See where this author takes these characters
and your emotions.
Loved this story. The characters were well rounded. The story took some turns that were
unexpected. I didn’t see coming. I give this: 5++++ stars. Provided by netgalley.com. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com.
