This marriage is strictly business... until the temptation gets way too real.
Corbin: I loved my grandma, but I don’t need her money. All I care about is keeping the house—the only place that’s ever felt like home. That, and screwing over my dad, who wants to turn the property into a mall. There’s only one catch: To receive my inheritance, I have to get married within six months. Me, the guy who’s never dated a girl for more than six minutes. Now I need to find a woman I can trust. So when I’m rear-ended by a Prius, I figure it’s a sign that I’m supposed to meet gorgeous, down-to-earth Teagan Monroe.
Teagan: First I lose my job. Then I come home and find out—in the most graphic way possible . . . yeah, that way—that my boyfriend is a cheating jerk. And then I speed off and nearly kill Portland’s sexiest bachelor. Corbin Lane should be pissed. Instead, he offers me more money than I’ve ever seen in my life to marry him and live together in a mansion for two years. No sex. No feelings. Just cash—enough to make all my dreams come true. Then we go and break all our rules . . . and I realize I’m falling in love with my fake fiancĂ©.
MY REVIEW:
Teagon Monroe would have no luck if she didn’t have bad luck. She knew when she got up that morning and rolled over and kissed her boyfriend things had changed. So, she had planned to buy a new nightie in hopes of spicing things up. All she wanted was to save what she had with her man of seven years.
But ladies when you been with a man moving all over the green earth, paying for his schooling or at least helping, splitting the rent and now he hasn’t touched you in six months. Get the hell out after the first two years if and no ring, but not Teagon. After seven years all that so-called teamwork got her nowhere.
Drake, her ex, he takes care of ending their relationship in the most final of ways. Just two hours after she left for work she was back home. You see she lost her job and goes home. Thinks her sleepy doctor boyfriend will still be asleep. Instead, she hears the sound he makes right before he’s going to… So, she figures she would rather give him a hand than make him pleasure himself. Since they had both been having such a dry spell.
Well, when she walks into the room she understands she was the only one having the dry spell. He was very much, balls deep into a big busted blonde. So, yeah Drake was pleasuring himself alright in their bed the one she had just been in with him not two hours ago. She screams and Drake tries to explain while the blonde tries to get dressed. She tells him to leave until she can clear out her things. He tries again but she locks herself in the bathroom.
When she drives off she is crying and when she looks down to plug in her phone she runs head-on into Corbin Lane. Portland’s most eligible bachelor and richest too. He doesn’t know it but she follows him on Instagram.
Corbin was not having a great day either his beloved grandmother Eleanor passed away and earlier in the day they had the reading of the will where his grandmother had willed him her family estate and land. Which is all he ever wanted the place that was always home to him. She was always home to him.
His parents were never loving, caring, or even kind. So, he would go to Eleanor’s every free time he got. All the way until the day she died. There was a catch to the will to get the house. He must marry within six months and stay married for at least two years.
This was such a fun quick-witted book. The endearment Corbin has for his grandmother and the contrast shown with his hatred for his father are emotions surely felt. I give this: 5 ++++ stars. Provided by netgalley.com.
