He's charming, wicked, and handsome . . . and she needs to stay away
For Evelyn Owen, work comes first. Being a wedding planner to the city's elite fills her nights and weekends, and she doesn't have time for distractions. Especially in the form of a sexy bartender with killer dimples . . .
Abel Matthews knows how to serve the ladies. But lately, the only woman he wants is just out of reach. That's because Evelyn has already been warned about his playboy ways. Still, there's something about her that makes Abel want more than a quick fling.
Evelyn knows that she shouldn't trust Abel. Yet she's seen a side of him no one else knows, and she can't turn away. But Abel is hiding something from her . . . and if he doesn't confess soon, it will tear them apart.
MY REVIEW:
This was an interesting
story of two very insecure people who are able to walk through life showing
themselves as no worries as their motto.
When really it wasn’t.
For Evelyn Owens, she is
your well put together designer clothed head to toe wedding planner’s
assistant. Who at twenty-four, very soon
twenty-five, is working her way to becoming a full
wedding planner and one day hopefully and owner. Yet, when it comes to her heart she is
fearful beyond words.
She was burned by her
last boyfriend, Patrick, where she felt she lost her identity. He wanted her on his time and on his
terms. Kind of hard when you have your
own career and dreams to fulfill.
But when she met her
best friend’s boyfriend’s brother, Abel Matthews, there was this instant connection. Even though she was warned off not to get
involved. She became more intrigued. Something like the forbidden fruit. Each time they were in the same room the temp
went up for sure. They were not the only
ones that noticed it others did too.
Abel was a sex stick
walking. From the stories told there
wasn’t a woman in all of Chicago his shoes had not laid under their bed. Well, except hers of course. Their chemistry was off the charts. Each time he saw her he made sure to ask her
out. Just thinking about him always did
things to her, most of all her lady parts.
It wasn’t until Aaron
and Abel’s grandmother’s funeral that she saw a whole different side of him.
He was dressed in a suit looking so yummy and her looking like a drowned
rat. It was pouring rain out by the time
she got to their Callie and Aaron’s after the service. With charm and a straight face, he called her
‘Beautiful’ and meant it with all his heart.
Once again, before she
left he asked her out for coffee. Once again,
she said no. The one night her boss
Brigette asked her out for drinks after a long day. She said, sure. But, when they just walked around the corner
she was confused. They were led to a
secret world. A club that is members
only. One that had none other than Abel
working as its bartender. The two women
had drinks flirted with the bartender and when at the end of their evening, he
asked her out again…
These two are two peas
in a pod. They are so much alike. She is a lady who had a standing sex partner
plus extra here and there. She wasn’t
looking for real. Neither was he but
something could change when you least expect it. Just so you know the ending left me lacking
in a lot of ways. Yet, fulfilled
too. So, with that, I give this 4 stars.
