Cowboy Payback - Donna Michaels Interview
Let Us
Welcome
Author of:
Donna Michaels
Rad-Reader: Where did the idea for this story come from?
Rad-Reader: Are you the type of author that can hear a conversation and say that will make a great start to a story?
Donna: Yes. Absolutely. I get ideas all the time from listening to people or watching them. Heck, I once got an idea for a future story from watching birds on a wire.
Rad-Reader: In this story Where and why did Brett think he was at the saloon for lunch in the first place?
Donna: The saloon was an integral part in the original book. My publisher required there be some sort of scene there to tie all the other stories in that series. So book 2 picks up right where book 1 left off, it just switches to Brett’s story and how his brother pays his back for what took place in book 1. So without giving the ending away, let’s just say he thought he was there to celebrate his brother’s HEA. lol
Rad-Reader: At any time during the meal and even after when her parent started leaving her could have started laughing and given the whole joke so he thought away but he didn’t why?
Donna: Ah, see, that’s beauty of Brett. He’s a consummate prankster, and was dying to see what his brother had cooked up yet. So he played along, waiting for the punchline. J
Rad-Reader: Why was he so mad at Trisha or was he really mad at himself for pulling it on his brother and not it was his turn?
Donna: Brett was definitely mad at his brother, and himself, and anyone else involved, for allowing the charade to take place.
Rad-Reader: Trisha was in love with him or at least in lust from the beginning whether she wanted to admit it or not. What took him so long to see her as a woman?
Donna: Brett had been her commanding officer for years. He’d made it a point to only see a Marine, not gender, so it took him a little bit to shed that stigma, but the first time she slid her arm around him and brushed his body with her curves he received a huge wake-up call.
Rad-Reader: When they started having feelings for one another after that first kiss why did that scare them so much?
Donna: Brett had been her commanding officer for years. He’d made it a point to only see a Marine, not gender, so it took him a little bit to shed that stigma, but the first time she slid her arm around him and brushed his body with her curves he received a huge wake-up call.
Rad-Reader: After what happened on their last deployment why did Trisha want to be a teacher when she freaked out so bad?
Donna: It had been her dream for so long. The one thing that had gotten her through those deployments. Plus, I think, deep down, she wanted to honor those children, but it wasn’t so easy.
Rad-Reader: Brett was always there to walk her through those freak outs at the ranch everyone saw how they loved each other why couldn’t they see it?
Donna: I think they were comrades for so long, they mistook it for just that, a Marine helping a fellow Marine.
Rad-Reader: Were Cammie and Trisha friends before being in service together?
Donna: No, they met in the Marine Corps.
Rad-Reader: When Brett was feeling the jealousy he didn’t get a clue that he may be falling in love with Trisha?
Donna: No, he was clueless when it came to love. He’d avoided relationships most of his life, so he had no experience in the emotions involved.
Rad-Reader: What was the deal with her brother we never really find out? She starts to talk first.
Donna: Hehe…that’s because his story is the next book.
Rad-Reader: Is there a book already about Liam and Stacy? If not will there be?
Donna: J See the above answer.
Rad-Reader: What can we expect for the Brennan Brother’s futures with these strong women?
Donna: Those brothers will be loved unconditionally and challenged to do the same.
And Finn and Cammie’s book has been hand drawn into a Japanese translation!! Isn’t this cover great??
Rad-Reader: If your book was made into a movie who would play…
Rad-Reader: What song out today best describes your couple's relationship or closely describes the story of your book?
"Wrong" Zayn Malik & Selena Gomez
Donna: ???
Rad-Reader: What is your favorite genre to read?
Donna: Hot, humorous romances
Rad-Reader: Have you always known you wanted to be a writer?
Donna: Yes and no. I always loved to read romance, and late in high school, I thought about writing, I just hadn’t expected to be able to make a career out of it.
Rad-Reader: When did you write you first book and did it get published?
Donna: I wrote my first full romance just before I got pregnant with twins. No, I never tried to publish it, but I do plan to dust if off and revise it in the future.
Rad-Reader: What is your next project and when is it coming out?
Donna: I actually have two. My latest just released this week. Her Hell No Cowboy is part of my Harland County Series and a crossover into Sable Hunter’s Hell Yeah Kindle World that had another launch on Valentine’s Day. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WGPP3ZL/
And Lincoln happens to be another twin. J His brother’s story, Her Hell Yeah Cowboy, was released in Sable’s original launch last August. They’re Texas National Guardsman and were a hoot to write.
