This book is a reissue and I must say I am glad I took the time to read it. Though I do know of a couple of movies based on this book or from this series. This character Parker is fantastic, he says just what needs to be said nothing more and he is a little grittier than what was made out in the movies I saw. The writing is great and though the book was first written in the early 60s for me it still worked for me. That was not a problem that is when you know that you have come across a good author and story teller. I also did not have a problem with the violence in the book it is about a criminal and he is going after criminals who took from him, he is wanting to make things right and the way he goes about it is not going to be pretty. Being that it is set in the 60s and written for that time period once you get in that frame of mind it all works. An excellent story with a great lead character. A really good book. I got this book from net galley.
