Tall and thin, twenty-eight-year-old Bronwyn Palmer has become positively gaunt, a ghost of her former self. That self was—and still is—the wife of a rich, handsome executive with an ocean-view house and his own security staff.
It was in that house, two years ago, that Bryce Palmer learned Bronwyn was pregnant with their first child. But Bryce’s rage over his impending fatherhood touched off a chain reaction of emotional and physical traumas that wounded them both. For Bronwyn, it meant fleeing the perfect marriage to start over with nothing but a precocious daughter named Kayla to care for. For Bryce, it meant a tortuous two years spent blaming his wife for deserting him, and living with the pain of not knowing his child. Now a chance encounter has brought Bronwyn back into Bryce’s life, both bearing scars...and neither knowing the whole truth of that fateful night that drove them apart.
MY REVIEW:
What an amazingly well written story of a man, Bryce
Michael Palmer, 33, who carries some deep dark secrets even from his younger
brother, Rick. Bryce is married to
Bronwyn Kirkland Palmer, 28, and has been for two years.
They are extremely happy, by all accounts
in love, and living their lives with a plan.
Their plan had always been to wait at least five years to have children
that way Bron could complete her education for becoming a Vet. Yet, on this night Bron was so excited
without trying and while on protection she became pregnant. She prepares a great meal, showers, and sets
up a picnic in the conservatory. After
the meal and relaxing she discloses the exciting blessing that they have
created together.
That is when all hell breaks loose. Bryce her loving, caring, and gentle husband
turns into a bastard. He really becomes
a monster before her eyes. Accusing her
of plotting to get pregnant behind his back and even of throwing birth control
pills down the drain. The words he spew at
her are mean and hurtful. When he turns
and tells her to go away, she is stunned.
Then, he yells for her to get out.
She runs out with the clothes on her back and takes her keys and leaves
the house.
Now
this is just the prologue, you won’t even be able to imagine what can go on in
this relationship until you start reading.
There were times I was saying, “Lady are you crazy?” Other times I was in sheer disbelief of the
pain the people can put themselves and others through but especially the ones
they say they love.
But, in the end when Bryce is brave enough
to share his secrets, his ability to heal not only himself but Bron, and the
love and happiness that can come from hard work is amazing. This author captured great emotion in her
writing. She takes you on an emotional
roller coaster that is so worth it in the end.
I give this book 5 stars.
